Heavy Traffic Expected during Golden Week in Shirakawa-go

Heavy traffic is expected around Shirakawa-go during the Japanese public holidays, Golden Week (29th April-7th May).

According to Japan Road Traffic Information Center (JARTIC), the vehicles are estimated to queue maximum 3km from the Shirakawa-go IC on the highway to the public car park.

As parking and traffic delays are inevitable private cars travelling as well as public transport should expect long delays (minimum 1 hour) especially during the day (9am-5pm).

Please note private cars travelling are advised to take exit at Shokawa IC to R156 North to Shirakawa-go instead of taking exit at Shirakawa-go IC. Onsite parking for approximately 900 cars and 40 buses is available. Search for the address, 2495-3 Ogimachi, Shirakawamura, Gifu or Tel:05769-6-3111 to set your GPS to direct you to the public car park in Shirakawa-go. Please refer to the map link below.
